MARINE BIODIVERSITY AND EVOLUTION LABORATORY
Research in the Marine Biodiversity and Evolution Laboratory (MBEL) focuses on describing the species diversity of tropical marine invertebrates using an integrative (morphological + molecular) approach. Headed by Dr. Machel Malay, the MBEL lab is also interested in phylogeography, speciation, ecological assessments of rare / marginal coastal ecosystems, marine invertebrate conservation and resource management, and the development of natural history museum collections. Within these broad parameters, students can have a significant degree of freedom to design their research topics.
