The West Philippine Sea: State of the Coasts Report (2024)
The West Philippine Sea (WPS) is a region of significant ecological, economic, and social importance, both locally and globally. However, it is facing threats from natural and human-induced hazards, necessitating a dedicated SOC report.
The WPS State of the Coasts Report (WPS SOC 2024) comprises 13 contributed articles on topics relevant to the WPS, and information on coral reefs, fisheries and various aspects of coastal resource management initiatives in 14 localities in the region. This blend of general and site-specific insights is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of the coastal and marine environment in the WPS.
The WPS SOC 2024 aims to make information about the WPS accessible to a wider audience for education, public policy, and action. It also hopes to establish a regular and comprehensive reporting system for the region and encourage more regular publication of a national SOC.
