Effective science communication opens up science to the people, providing solutions to problems and knowledge that’s beneficial to the public. UP MSI in partnership with the Association of Young Environmental Journalists (AYEJ) will be holding its first ever marine science communication workshop at the Bolinao Marine Laboratory (BML) in Bolinao Pangasinan.
Blue Beat Initiative: Short Course on Marine Science Communication is a five-day in-person media training and capacity-building workshop on science and environmental journalism that will be held from December 12 – 16, 2022.
15 fellows who are journalists and communications specialists from different media companies government agencies, and industries were chosen to potentially build a network of Filipino marine science communicators.
Among the speakers that will be heading the lecture series are journalists, science communicators, researchers, and marine conservationists.
This project is funded by the National Security Council under the Upgrading Capacity, Infrastructure, and Assets for Marine Scientific Research in the Philippines (UPGRADE-CIA).
